Weapons And Ammunition Recovered On Merseyside
A sawn-off shotgun, a gas-powered adapted revolver and a quantity of ammunition was recovered in three separate incidents on Merseyside.
At just after 10am yesterday, Thursday 18 May, officers executed a warrant at a property in Huddleston Road, Wavertree.
A large amount of ammunition was forensically recovered. A further search led to the recovery of a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs and two vehicles.
A 22 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and possession of ammunition.
At 1.35pm officers conducting an open area search in Commercial Road, Kirkdale, recovered a sawn-off shotgun. The weapon has been forensically recovered.
At 7.55pm in response to community intelligence a search was conducted of premises on Stonebridge Lane, Fazakerley, and a gas-powered adapted revolver was recovered.
A 32 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a section one firearm.
Investigations are ongoing into the incidents.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “We know the harm that firearms and drugs can cause on our streets and the recovery of these weapons and ammunition together with a quantity of drugs represents a significant step in reducing the harm and misery they can bring to our communities.
“Removing the blight of guns from our communities is a priority for the whole of the force and I would urge the community to continue to come forward with information which could assist us.”
