Appeal following assault in Upton, Wirral
Merseyside Police is appealing for information following an assault on a man in Upton on Wednesday (10 January 2018).
A report was received at around 7.50pm that a 49-year-old man had been assaulted by a group of males following an altercation on Greystoke Close. It is believed the offenders used a hammer and piece of wood during the attack.
The victim sustained a serious head injury and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The offenders are described as being around 17 years old and dressed in black clothing with hoods.
CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are being carried out.
Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: "This was a nasty attack on a man near his home and while the victim suffered a serious injury to his head, he is very fortunate the injuries were not more serious.
