Appeal after teenager stabbed in Kirkby

We are appealing for inforamtion after a teenager was stabbed in Kirkby on Friday, 9 February.

Just before 7pm officers received reports that a 17-year-old male had been stabbed on Bewley Drive.

The victim was assaulted by three males on mountain bikes at the Kingfisher public House car park.

The three offenders had their faces covered and approached the teenager from the Westvale end of Bewley Drive.

The victim was stabbed in the back and as he ran away from the offenders they followed him, stabbed him a second time, and threw a mountain bike at him.

The victim attended hospital where his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Susan Ennis said:  "This was a particularly nasty attack as not only was the victim stabbed but a large bike thrown on him causing further injury.

"We would like to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to find the offenders and bring them to justice.

"I appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Bewley Drive and the surrounding area on Friday evening to please get in touch.  I also urge anyone who may have heard any information following the incident to contact us immediately."
